Buy Fresh from Local Farms!

Delicious farm-fresh produce is easier than ever to find! The New Ulm area is home to many farms offering Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) seasonal shares, fresh fruits and vegetables, poultry products, organic products and more. Check out the list below for area farms and what they offer, and then call or stop by and visit. Also look for products from many of these farms at the KNUJ Farmers Market starting in June!

At August Earth, we grow a large variety of produce for our CSA members. Our standard 18-week CSA share is a 3/4 bushel box available in New Ulm or at our farm outside of Hanska.

We also offer a half share (9 biweekly boxes), a working share, a winter storage share, and a pesto share. Tomato preserving shares will be available if we have a bountiful crop.
August Earth is a transplanted farm — we operated outside of Hutchinson for five years growing certified organic produce for Hutchinson and neighboring communities including New Ulm and St. Peter.

We also supplied the St. Peter Food Co-op with produce at that time. We are certifying the land at our new farm in Hanska. We are on schedule to be certified in 2014; right now we are "in transition." In 2012, we are adding three beehives to our property. This will benefit the pollination of our plants. We will have honey available for sale as well.

Growing Green’s produce is made available through CSA membership.  Our weekly boxes include a variety of produce that changes with the season.   We include the familiar - things like apples, lettuce, carrots, potatoes, and tomatoes; as well as some things that may not be so familiar - things like eggplant, leeks, and Swiss chard.  But, we do more of the standard produce items, and lesser quantities of the not-so-standard items.  Plus, we provide helpful serving ideas each week to help you incorporate healthy vegetables into your diet.  Fresh herbs are also available.
